Hochkrimml, Gerlosplatte & Zillertal Arena
Hochkrimml sits at around 1,700 m on the Gerlosplatte, high above the Oberpinzgau in the Salzburg region. For skiing it belongs to the Zillertal Arena – which is why many guests search for the houses under “Zillertal”, even though Hochkrimml itself is not in the Tyrolean Zillertal.
Winter in the Zillertal Arena
From Hochkrimml you reach the Zillertal Arena ski area, which links Königsleiten, Gerlos and the Zillertal. Slopes, lifts, ski school and ski rental are approx. 300 m from the houses; the cross-country trail runs about 20 m below. The region also hosts events such as moonlight skiing, winter hikes and après-ski.
Summer on the Gerlosplatte
In summer the Gerlosplatte is a quiet hiking area with alpine pastures and panoramic trails. Down in the valley are the Krimml Waterfalls, among the best-known waterfalls in Europe. The region also has swimming pools, high-rope courses and adventure parks – please check current opening times directly with the providers.
Hochkrimml, Königsleiten, Gerlos
Opposite the houses is Königsleiten, with a small supermarket. Gerlos on the Tyrolean side is also easy to reach by car. More about events and activities at zillertalarena.com.
